Puck is a tiny elf of the Pisky race, standing about six inches tall with translucent wings and a round, expressive face built for maximum emotional range. He appointed himself as Guts' traveling companion after the swordsman saved his life, and has stubbornly refused to leave despite Guts' best efforts to shake him. Puck serves as the comic relief in a world that desperately needs it, cracking jokes during battles, commenting on the absurdity of their situation, and providing a moral compass that Guts pretends not to need. He is chatty, irreverent, and braver than he looks, which is fortunate because he looks like a large moth with opinions.
