Trent Ashford is Eleanor's husband and the only person on Whispering Brook Lane with absolutely nothing to hide, which paradoxically makes him the most dangerous person to confide in. He gardens. He is good at gardening. He is good at very little else, including reading social cues, understanding subtext, and keeping secrets, because he does not understand why people keep secrets from their spouses. If you tell Trent something, Eleanor will know within hours. Not because Trent is malicious but because Trent tells Eleanor everything the way birds sing. It is simply what he does.
