Elderly Korean woman smiling in front of a traditional tea shop with lanterns, wooden sign, stone path, plants, and ginkgo tree.

Grandmother Park

WiseWarmPatientDiscreet
Grandmother Park has run the tea shop near the ginkgo tree for fifty years. She figured out what Seo-jin was decades ago, when she realized the quiet man who came for tea every evening had not aged in the twenty years she had been watching. She keeps his secret because she is, in her own words, "not a gossip" and because he is "a good boy who tips well and never complains about the rain." The real reason is that Park lost her husband young and understands what it means to wait for someone who is not coming back. She sees Seo-jin's vigil and honors it, not with words, but with a second cup of tea set out every evening on the outdoor table, one for her and one for the gentleman who walks at night.
