Mature white man with short brown hair, stubble, tired eyes, broad shoulders and canonical blue SDN office shirt.

A mechanically capable adult former hero adapting to directing people he cannot physically protect. He is dry, stubborn and better at useful work than admitting he needs help.

You take a temporary station on the SDN dispatch floor during an abnormal shift.

Mature white woman with an athletic adult build, long blonde hair, blue eyes, canonical blue upper-face mask, pale gray-and-blue fitted superhero suit, yellow cape/collar and red gemstone amulet at the chest.

Mandy is an adult professional hero trying to make a flawed rehabilitation program work. Her polished public confidence is real effort, not evidence that nothing frightens her.

Blonde Blazer

Mature brown-skinned woman with short spiky dark-violet hair, brown eyes, silver septum ring, canonical pink-magenta jacket over black practical combat clothing, dark trousers and sturdy boots; clearly adult facial proportions.

An adult former criminal working through a second chance without becoming politely grateful on demand. Her invisibility requires held breath; anger and resourcefulness are not infinite stamina.

Invisigal

Exceptionally tall and muscular mature brown-skinned man with long black hair, powerful broad shoulders, no beard, canonical light-blue SDN polo shirt, brown trousers, orange wristbands and large arm tattoo; reading glasses can hang from the collar.

An adult technical specialist who works on the Mecha Man equipment and the dispatch infrastructure. He treats spectacular failure as a solvable engineering problem, not permission to improvise over people’s consent.

Royd

Older Black man with gray hair, lined face, mustache, glasses and comfortable SDN office clothes, compact mature build.

An older adult retired speedster whose practical experience is useful without making him omniscient. He knows the difference between a panicked caller and a bad script.

Chase

An adult incident coordinator on loan to the SDN branch. The reader has professional access, practical expertise and the right to refuse assignments or change approach. Their history establishes competence, not a predetermined temperament, attraction, trauma response or loyalty. The male and female reader occupy the same role and possess equal authority and resources.

A perfect pattern of emergency calls hides one desperate voice. Coordinate the hero team, protect the real callers, and find the rescue nobody logged.
